Important: If you are not familiar with the Resources area, we recommend you review the upcoming Resources Overview page It will provide you with a working knowledge of the Resources area.

All projects should define their resource requirements via Resource Requests.  While demand and capacity management is driven by each named resource’s availability, typically capacity is managed at the role level where project assignments are balanced across all the resources who fulfill a specific role.

Here are a few practical tips:

  • Review and approve resource requests by project or by resource giving you the flexibility to approve new project requests as well as manage the capacity of all the resources for whom you are responsible.
  • Typically monthly, you should review all the resources on your team to ensure that they are effectively assigned to the appropriate projects to maximize the delivery capacity of your team.
  • If you identify over or underutilized resources, you should meet with the appropriate project managers to identify ways to deal with these issues and update and approve Resource Requests to redistribute the work appropriately.
