Set program KPIs and compose status narratives (05:45)

Try It!

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and narratives are the main vehicle you have to communicate the program status to your stakeholders.

Therefore, the KPIs and the support narratives should be carefully defined to ensure you are communicating an accurate status to the stakeholders, and even more importantly, alerting them to potential problems that you may need their support to resolve. You are also able to validate which program status entry will define the baseline for finish date, work, and budget.

To set program KPIs and compose status narratives:

  1. Open the Status Updates tab for the current program and click + New Status Update.

  2. Create a new program status update for the current period.

Tip: Ensure the Status Date is set to reflect the status period end date.

  3. Define the overall program status.

  4. Set the overall Program KPI and provide a clear and concise narrative to describe the current status of the program.

  5. Set the KPI and provide a status narrative for the other relevant status areas based on your stakeholders’ information requirements.
