Build a new project from an existing schedule or template (06:59)

All new projects should be created in Sensei IQ.  It is recommended that the existing schedule or template has been sanitized in the external tool to ensure that it represents organizational policies and procedures and represents a good starting point for all future projects. 


To build a project from an existing schedule or template:

1.  Link the project to an external execution tool (if not already done using the in the Define the project lesson)

  1. Ensure you are in Projects area and click Projects in the Leadership section.

  2. Ensure you are on the Information Grouping tab.

  3. Click Link a project.

  4.  Search for and select the appropriate external project.

2.   Remove external tool link but keep tasks

  1. Once all tasks from the external execution tool have synced to your new project, select the link icon to the immediate left of the external tool icon.

  2. Select the X to remove the link.

  3. Ensure Leave tasks in place is selected.

  4. Click Accept.


3.  Add task dependencies

  1. Add appropriate dependencies by clicking and dragging from the ending circle on the predecessor task to the beginning circle of the successor task.

4.  Replace external resources with named resources

  1. Right mouse click on the task you need to replace the resource.

  2. Select Task Information.

  3. Go to the Resources tab.

  4. Click + New Resource Assignment.

  5. Search for and select the new enterprise resource.

  6. Select the external tool synchronized resource.

  7. Click Delete Resource Assignment.
