Timesheet Configuration Settings
While you can adjust these settings at any time, the changes will only apply going forward, any timesheets already created will not be updated to reflect the changes. Therefore, the initial configuration should be carefully reviewed to ensure it’s consistent with organizational policies and procedures for project and resource management.
Configurable items include:
- Timesheet Mode is probably the most important setting. It allows you to set whether you would like your organisation to work in Project Tasks or Projects mode.
- Project Tasks mode defines that the timesheets will be based on the Task list for each project. Individual timesheets will be based on the tasks for each project the team member is assigned to.
- Projects mode uses Resource Requests for each project to define the timesheet rows. Individual timesheets will have a single row for each project the team member is assigned to.
- Precision defines the number of decimal places team members can use to record their time worked.
- Auto Populate Timesheets will create new timesheets with the task / project detail that is available when the timesheet was created. It is recommended that this is turned on to make the timesheet entry easier for team members.
- Disable Manager Override allows you disable the ability for Timesheet Managers, Line Managers or Administrators to create or complete a timesheet on another user’s behalf. It is recommended that these are not overridden to allow for ease of delegation when an individual is not available to ensure the timely completion and approval of timesheets.
- Timesheet Period Name Template defines the template that will be used when creating new timesheet periods. We recommend a format such as YYYY – Timesheet Period 99 to make it easy for team members and timesheet managers to quickly identify the specific timesheet they want to update or review.
- Filters allow you to define specific filters to be applied when prepopulating timesheets. The default filter for Project Tasks Mode is tasks are not complete, for Projects Mode it is active projects, and for Non-project time it is Status equal to Open.
