Understand portfolio/program progress (04:46)

As portfolio results are delivered by the related programs and projects, and program results are delivered by the related projects, you will need to review and understand the overall rollup progress from related components such as key performance indicators for each sub-program and project, status of risks, issues, change requests, etc., financial performance and status of all related project milestones.


To understand the overall portfolio (and program) progress:

  1. Select the Portfolio (or Program) Overview report from Portfolio IQ > Leadership > Insights.

  2. Right-mouse click on the appropriate Portfolio (or Program).

  3. Select Drill-through > Portfolio (or Program) Status.

  4. Review the Overview sub-page to understand the KPIs for all sub-programs and sub-projects and their impact on the Portfolio (or Program).

  5. Review the Details sub-page to understand the status of all Portfolio (or Program) support items and their impact on the Portfolio (or Program).

  6. Review the Tracking sub-page to understand the status of support items for all sub-programs and sub-projects and their impact on the Portfolio (or Program).

  7. Review the Financials sub-page to understand the overall financial picture of the Portfolio (or Program) based on the rollup of the financials from all the sub-projects.

  8. Return to the Portfolio (or Program) Overview report and right-mouse click on the appropriate Portfolio (or Program).

  9. Select Drill-through > Project Milestones.

  10. Review the Sub Project Milestones sub-page to understand the status of all the project milestones and their impact on the Portfolio (or Program).
