Work Reporting (07:21)

Welcome to the Work IQ Reporting. It is focused on you, the individual team member and is pre-filtered based on your user ID.   It pulls all your work together and helps you to focus on what is most important.

Important: If you are not familiar with Power BI, we recommend you review the Power BI Fundamentals lesson. It will provide you with a working knowledge of the Work IQ Insights report.

Here is a summary on the purpose of each page, experience the various filtering options, and understanding of how to make this report work best for you.

  • There are eight (8) separate pages in this report. Each can be accessed directly by selecting the tab or by selecting one of the supporting item cards down the left side of the My Work page.

  • Summary cards present a bookmarked page prefiltered to show only those items that match the status on the card.  Most cards focus on those items considered active. For example, in the case of the incomplete assignments card, the My Assignments page will show only those items that are in any status other than complete

Tip: When you access any page ad hoc by using the tab, the page will show all items regardless of status.  It is important to understand the difference between the two access methods to ensure you are viewing the data you expect.

  • Also, each page has an info icon in the header, so any time you need real-time help, click on it to open a pop-up info pane containing a basic description of the report page you are on.
  • My Work page provides a summary of all the project items assigned to you and it can serve as your personal dashboard.  You can use the various filters to view only your work on a specific project, all your work for a specific department or location, or all your work for a specific project manager just to highlight a few examples.

The key feature of this page is the table which organizes your project assignments by current, future, and completed.

1. Current shows you what you need to focus on right now.

2. Future helps you to plan for what is coming; and

3. Completed shows you what you have accomplished.

Important: All the pages are dynamic providing the ability to link back to data in Sensei IQ using the link icons where available.

In progress section of the assignments by progress doughnut chart. Notice that the data in all of the cards across the top, the pie chart Effort Completed and Remaining, and the planning window data all change to show only the work that you are actively working on.

  • Deliverables page presents a summarization of your assigned deliverables across all projects.  You can immediately see which deliverables need your immediate attention as the table is sorted by KPI from overdue to completed.
  • Issues page presents a summary of all issues assigned to you.  You can easily see what issues need your immediate attention as the default sort is by KPI from overdue to completed.  Depending on how many issues you have, and what you are focused on, you can choose to use the visualizations or table sorting to present the data the way you need see it.
  • Risks page displays all risks assigned to you and is much like the issues page with an additional key feature, the risk matrix.  The risk matrix plots the risks based on consequence and likelihood and indicates the cost impact by the size of the bubble.  The tooltip on this matrix is very detailed giving you quick insight to each risk as you mouse over each bubble.  Approach to data analysis is dependent upon your preference and what you are looking to focus on.
  • Decisions page presents a summary of all decisions assigned to you. While the acceptance of decisions is often done by the project sponsor, your involvement is still important to ensure that the decision contains all the information needed to approve or reject it.
  • Change requests page also has a matrix with your change requests plotted by duration and work effort change.  The size of the bubble indicates the estimated cost of the change.  The larger the bubble, the larger the estimated cost.  This visualization helps you to see the impact of each change request.  As team member involvement in change requests is typically in the creation of the change request details, you should ensure that all New change requests assigned to you are fully and accurately estimated prior to the due date.
  • Lessons Learned page presents a summary of all lessons learned you have created.  Capturing lessons learned throughout the life of the project is every team member’s responsibility and is critical to help your team and your organization continue good practices and implement process improvements where needed.  You can use this page to confirm all your lessons learned have been captured.
  • The final page is the My Assignments page which shows all your project assignments.  Using the assignments by status doughnut chart or the assignments by project pie chart, you can filter the data to target specific information that will help you to focus on the most important items for your organization.  There are many ways to slice and dice the data to meet your needs.

As you can see, the Work IQ Insights report pulls all the individual team member project data together in such a way that helps focus your attention on those items needing attention, helps you to plan, and shows you all the work you have completed.
